The lifespan of a solar street light depends on various factors, including the quality of components used, environmental conditions, maintenance, and the technology incorporated. Typically, a high-quality solar street light can last anywhere between 5 to 10 years. So it’s important to study the product carefully if you want to choose a long-last solar street light for your applications. Here are the key factors influencing the longevity of the solar street lights.
Battery Quality and Performance: A solar battery is a device to store the electricity generated by solar panels so that the lighting system can operate at night or during periods of low sunlight. And to help ensure consistent operation of solar lighting system, E-Lite’s battery pack takes the innovational technology and produced them in its own production facility with multi-protection functions. There are many kinds of battery on the market; E-Lite uses the lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4), which is known for its low self-discharge rate, high energy density without memory effect, small size, fast charging, and long life. In order to control the quality, long life time and performance of the battery, avoiding second-hand battery cell used, E-Lite cooperated with the battery cell factory directly and always choose the 100% new grade A+ battery cell for their solar street lights. Even though, E-Lite still tests every single battery cell and assembles the battery pack in house based on strict steps and standards. IP protection and temperature keep is also important for solar street lights, so E-lite has the battery pack with insulation cotton and external aluminum box to protect the battery well.
Solar Panel Efficiency and Performance: Solar panels are the essential components that convert sunlight into electricity to power solar street lights at night. The choice of solar panels is crucial for the performance and longevity of the lighting system. Firstly, E-Lite uses the monocrystalline solar panels which are made from a single crystal of silicon, resulting in higher efficiency and longer lifespans. Secondly, the efficiency of a solar panel determines how much sunlight it can convert into electricity. Higher efficiency panels will produce more power, allowing for longer operating times and brighter lights. Thus, E-Lite uses the highest efficient solar panel which could reach to 23% conversion, which is much higher than the normal one 20% on the market. Thirdly, the wattage of the solar panel indicates its power output. The wattage should be sufficient to meet the energy needs of the street light. To ensure the full capacity of the solar panel, E-Lite tested every piece of the solar panel with professional flash tester as following picture.
Structure and Surface Treatment: The structure and surface treatment of solar street lights are crucial factors in their durability, performance, and overall lifespan. Firstly, the slip fitter is the main support structure for the solar street light. It should be sturdy, resistant to corrosion, and able to withstand various weathers, especially the areas with strong wind. E-Lite designs and applies the heavy duty slip fitter, which could hold the whole fixture firmly and withstand 150km/h strong wind. Secondly, the surface of the luminaire, and other components should be treated to prevent corrosion, especially in coastal or humid environments. E-Lite painted the fixtures with the AZ Nobel powder which have been tested work very well along the seaside. Thirdly, the Aesthetics. The structure and the surface treatment can also affect the overall appearance of the solar street light. E-Lite’s “Iphone design” solar street lights received very high comments from customers all over the world.
